It’s cold outside but it’s always warm indoors… Well, in a beautifully stocked independent wine shop to be precise! And that was certainly the case yesterday when I popped into my favourite wine shop in the land – Wined Up Here.
It was a brief trip to my former stomping ground of Norbiton on the edge of Kingston Upon Thames to have a bit of a Christmas knees up with our former neighbours . We lived in Norbiton for 6 happy years before the move to Bristol. Amongst the many things that we loved about the area (as well as our fabulous neighbours) was the the parade of local independent shops. And we loved none more than Wined Up Here!
So when I popped my head in to say hello to shop owner Charlotte and expert cheese mother Lizzy, I was greeted with festive hugs and a warmth that comes from being in a festive grotto of top wines. There were a few bottles open to test just before I made a few cheese purchases for our Christmas at home. Whether I will be able to keep my hands off the cheese I bought until Dec 25th remains to be send but I wanted to share my love of this shop and encourage you to pop in if you are near.
There’s a fabulous array of wines for all pallets (and pockets) as well as local artisan chocolate, beer, cider and spirits too – not to mention the fantastic cheese and bread on offer. There’s always a warm welcome and something to make your mouth water. So if you are near Coombe Road in Norbiton (just a few minutes from the station) pop in!
Even though I now live 100 or so miles away I still call it my local wine shop, and I think I always will!
